Frankie managed to make the perfect pancakes for breakfast. They were startlingly uniform in both size and amount of cooking. Jonathan wasn’t hungry. He had made the mistake of eating too much ginger-peanut-molasses-rice-paper the night before.

We watched Four Seasons and spent a large proportion of the day lying around on the sofa again. A lazy Sunday morning. And afternoon.

We didn’t leave the house until almost 3pm. We were only going to the BRG supermarket. It wasn’t very far away. We’d started to become familiar with the bustling ‘train market’ area that was round the corner from the house. It would have been fascinating had we not experienced the exact same thing in Samut Songkhram. Now it was just 100% annoying tourist stuff.

We stopped outside a rather drab looking Saint Joseph Cathedral. It was completely grey. It looked more like an oversized birdhouse than a place of worship. People were taking pictures outside. We paused for 30 seconds at most before moving on.

The supermarket was dingy. It was hard not to recognise the lack of cleanliness compared to shops at home. We expected the capital city to have higher standards. It was over two floors. We bought some squash, mushrooms, chocolate and a large green mango. Also our 4th tube of toothpaste and a coffee filter.

On the way home we decided to book the house for another week. Jonathan accidentally told them till the 30th June. That led to a shocking amount at first. We couldn’t avoid staying longer. We would have to order new rims from a shop in the UK. Then ask Jonathan’s brother to send them. The shop would rebuild the wheels around the existing hubs. It wouldn’t be cheap but we didn’t feel like we had any other choice. The only other option was a fairly substandard, 32 spoke, rim.
When we got home we constructed homemade bánh mì. The French have left behind an obsession with sandwiches. They’re sold all over Vietnam. Simple bread with a multitude of fillings. Usually meat or pate. There were plenty of vegan options but we’d resolved to cook some more our food now we had a kitchen.

We watched a few different tv shows. A new Danish drama called Secrets We Keep, Let Down and a particular favourite of ours: How to sell drugs online (fast). We didn’t have anything fancy for dessert.
