Our first night was peaceful. We were pleased to be tucked away somewhere quiet. Frankie slept in till almost 10am. Jonathan is incapable of such things. He binge watched Weak Hero. A K-drama. Highly recommended viewing.
For the first time in a long time we had a hob again. A single hob. Sufficient to make pancakes. Our ultimate breakfast. Jonathan was still trying to make the final decisions about how to fix his wheel. It seemed to be unavoidable that we’d have to wait in Hanoi for a while.
We actually watched tv most of the day. It sounds awful. To be in a capital city on the other side of the world. Locked away watching tv. We relished having our own space and freedom just to mong out.

Later on we walked first to a closed vegan restaurant then to an open one. We ordered two dishes. They ended up looking identical though. One was fried tofu and veg patties. The other was fried seitan. Far too many rice noodles and not enough vegetables. When another table ordered something different we got food envy.
It had started to rain. We walked back. Bought some nuts on the way. Also papaya and dragonfruit. We asked about the huge tanks of water that are usually used for office water fountains. Some of them had a nozzle on the bottom. We discovered we could buy one for 120k then when we returned with the bottle next time, it would be 70k. Ideal. No more endless 5L plastic bottles.

We watched yet more tv as it started to pour with rain. The forecast suggested that the rainy season was upon us. Everyday had rain. Symbolically for Frankie. The most uncomfortable time of the month had arrived again.
