In a surprise twist we received a message in the morning that the wheels were ready. Not only that but the pictures revealed that they were in fact laced 3 cross. Perfect. We couldn’t believe they were finished so quickly. We didn’t rush over. After our coffee we walked towards the bus stop, dropping off some laundry on the way. We were going to pay a woman to hopefully clean our clothes thoroughly.

We took the 159 bus as far as we could in the right direction. Taking two buses wasn’t an option. The moment we did the price would have doubled, and as there were two of us it would have been cheaper to get a taxi. They’re that cheap here.

The temperature was firing up again. We’d had a beautifully cool couple of weeks. Now walking through the streets we were sweaty again. We managed to find some narrow side streets and avoid the dusty traffic.

When we walked into the shop the mechanic was sitting at the back. Our shiny new wheels hanging behind him. They looked far sturdier. He was a little embarrassed when Jonathan insisted on taking a photo.

We took a taxi back to the house and Jonathan set about refitting the cassette, brake rotors and the new tyres. Frankie went off by herself to source some bread. We made ourselves an early dinner bánh mì again. We were finally able to leave. We’d really grown tired of Hà Nội.
